5Great reference for the HR Generalist  Apr 22, 2010 By L. Vilmain
As a Human Resource Generalist one is responsible for a vast amount of knowledge. As I researched which general reference book to add to my library, I consulted the "HRCI's PHR and SPHR Certification Guide" for which books and authors most frequently appeared in the notes. I found this book/authors the most. This is the most recent editoin and covers an extensive amount of information. A good feature is the frequent recommendations for places on the internet where one can investigate the topics further. I found the copious notes at the end of each chapter reassuring as to content validity and helpful for additional reference . Lana Vilmain, HR Generalist, lvilmain@aol.com

4Is it really worth so much??  Jul 09, 2009 By T. Carr
I have just started my class that uses this book. It seems like a fairly good book. It's organized well enough. But it was $100! And when you get it, it's a lot smaller and shorter of a book than I was expecting for some reason. My professor said that the 12th edition was different enough from the 11th that we couldn't use the old one or we would be lost.

5An Indispensable Tool for all Human Resource Developers  Aug 08, 2008 By Reginald Johnson "Reginald V. Johnson"
I have been recommending Human Resource Management to clients since the first edition. The authors Robert L. Mathis and John H. Jackson have kept this bible of the industry ... relevant and updated throughout the years.
This latest edition continues the trend, pace, and level of excellence since its inception. It is a perfect reference source and deals with the theoretical as well as real world situations. All companies can benefit from its practical applications whether they are start-ups or major corporations.

4Human Resource Management, 12th Ed.  Aug 31, 2010 By Denise E. Bedwell
This book was in new condition - not missing any parts or pages, and fits my need for the class I am taking. As far as the text, I have not gotten far enough into the book to make any assessment, but so far it seems fairly easy to read, flows well, and relates to the instructor's course work. I am pleased with this purchase.
